Varna, the biggest city along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast and the third largest city in Bulgaria, is a wonderful combination between a modern resort and a big industrial centre. Varna has a long and eventful history which led to the creation and preservation of some unique sightseeings. It also boasts its orchards, market gardens and hot houses, its vinegrowing tradition that gives some of the famous Bulgarian wines. It is situated in the Varna Bay on the Black Sea Coast, 480 km Northeast of Sofia. It is often referred to as the seaside capital of Bulgaria. Varna has a terminal station on the railway lines Sofia-Varna and Rouse-Varna, a sea port, and an international airport which has direct flights to the UK during summer months. It is a vivacious university town which multiplies in size during the summer season.
